Whether you want to take in some sights, dive headlong into activities, or sit back and relax, there\u2019s much going on.<br \/>\nThe Venice International Film Festival opened on 29 August, and will continue through September 8. The \u201caim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote all the various aspects of international cinema in all its forms: as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and tolerance. The Festival includes retrospectives and homages to major figures as a contribution towards raising awareness of the history of cinema\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.labiennale.org\">www.labiennale.org<\/a>). No doubt you will see some amazing shorts and feature-length films, along with some famous stars and starlets.<br \/>\nAlso starting up in earnest are all of the food festivals throughout the country. This time of year coincides with the harvest, so the food and wine will be abundant and ready for you to taste and sip.<br \/>\nIf you\u2019re in Rome, check out the Roma Europa Festival, which runs from September- October<em>.<\/em><br \/>\nA yearly event since 1986, it displays modern art and theatre, music and dance, with artists from all over Europe appearing.<br \/>\nBe sure to look into the local tourism office calendar for other locally-unique festivals happening.
