{"id":4131,"date":"2012-07-08T17:08:54","date_gmt":"2012-07-09T00:08:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marialiberati.com\/?p=4131"},"modified":"2012-07-08T17:08:54","modified_gmt":"2012-07-09T00:08:54","slug":"the-tempest-dreamy-ricotta-pudding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marialiberati.com\/freshsite\/2012\/07\/08\/the-tempest-dreamy-ricotta-pudding\/","title":{"rendered":"Starved for Culture &#124; Shakespeare&#039;s The Tempest and Dreamy Ricotta Pudding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wlWriterHeaderFooter\" style=\"float: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;\"><a class=\"google-buzz-button\" title=\"Post on Google Buzz\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/buzz\/post\"><\/a><script src=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/buzz\/api\/button.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mcall.com\/media\/photo\/2012-06\/70698383.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n(photo credits: The Morning Call)<br \/>\nCopyright 2012 Art of Living,PrimaMedia,Inc\/Maria Liberati<br \/>\nBrightened up my weekend yesterday by catching a spectacular performance of Shakespeare\u2019s The Tempest at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival..spectacular actors,set design ,direction\u2026.<br \/>\n(catch a trailer&nbsp; at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pashakespeare.org\">www.pashakespeare.org<\/a>)<br \/>\nTheater is very similar to cooking..the recipe, just like the script is&nbsp; important but if you don\u2019t have the best quality ingredients to put that recipe together or to interpret that script..no matter how great your playwright is or how wonderful that recipe is ..it is just not the same\u2026.<br \/>\nAnd with that in mind the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival brought together the best \u2018ingredients\u2019 (actors, directors, set designers)&nbsp; one could find to interpret this beautiful production.. it was definitely a treat to see Greg Wood&nbsp; (who has many TV, Movie and theatre credits) seemed not to play the role of Prospero&nbsp; but for 2 hours he became Prospero\u2026.a strong but loving character..&nbsp; the young lovers were portrayed&nbsp; by Kelsey Formost and Brandon Meeks(both with impressive credits also) \u2026all of these actors,as well as the other talented actors in the production made for superior artisan like ingredients to Shakespeare\u2019s recipe\u2026<br \/>\nThis type of theater is definitely food for the senses! If you are starved for culture this Festival is just what you need\u2026if you are anywhere near catch a production or what\u2019s left of the season..you don\u2019t want to miss this<br \/>\nHere is a dreamy dessert&nbsp; that would inspire even Shakespeare!<br \/>\n<strong>Ricotta Pudding<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>(from <a href=\"www.marialiberati.com\">The Basic Art of Italian Cooking: Holidays &amp; Special Occasions-2nd edition)<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cookaround.com\/cpg\/albums\/userpics\/10012\/budino_di_ricotta.JPG\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n<strong>(photo credit: cookaround.com)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Serves 6<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 lemon peel<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup brandy<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons candied dried fruit<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon butter<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup fresh fruit in season<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>2 cups ricotta cheese<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons flour<\/li>\n<li>5 eggs<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>\u00b9\u2044\u00b3 cup powdered sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Pass the ricotta cheese through a sieve to get a creamy texture. In a bowl, place the ricotta, 1 tablespoon flour, 2 whole eggs and 3 egg yolks (save egg whites for later use), pinch of cinnamon, powdered sugar, lemon peel, candied dried fruit, and brandy. Blend all together.<br \/>\nIn a separate bowl, whip the egg whites until peaks form. Fold gently into the ricotta mixture. Butter a glass baking pan, dust with remaining flour, and place in mixture. Bake for 30 minutes or until firm.<br \/>\nWhen finished, remove from oven and let cool. When cool, take out of pan and place in serving dish.
