Today the Irish claim him as their own, but did you know that even the Italians claim him as one of their own.&nbsp;He was born in Britain when it was ruled and owned by the Romans, so the Italians &nbsp;consider him a Roman-not Irish. <\/em><br \/>\n<em>One thing all Americans can usually agree on is to celebrate the day..And no one celebrates the day bigger and better than Americans.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>In Italy, today, March 17<\/em><em><sup>th,<\/sup><\/em><em> is Festa Nazionale (national Feast Day) for the Unification of Italy (to celebrate the 150 yrs that Italy has been a unified nation)..no matter what you want to celebrate..Celebrate! <\/em><br \/>\n<em>&nbsp;<\/em><br \/>\n<em><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/SaintPatrickI1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2733\" title=\"SaintPatrickI\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/SaintPatrickI1-225x300.jpg?resize=225%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\"\/><\/a><\/em><br \/>\n<em>In honor of both occasions, here&#8217;s an Italian style dish that includes cabbage and potatoes with Filet of Sole. &nbsp;Serve with a dry white wine, a sparkling Prosecco or even beer.<\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/cabbage-and-potatoes.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-2734\" title=\"cabbage and potatoes\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/cabbage-and-potatoes-150x150.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n<em><strong>Filet of Sole with Cabbage and Potatoes<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em>copyright 2011, art of living,PrimaMedia,Inc\/Maria Liberati from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.triond.com\/content\/fix-published\/id\/Filet%20of%20Sole%20with%20Cabbage%20and%20Potatoes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Basic Art of Italian Cooking: Holidays &amp; Special Occasions-2nd edition<\/a><\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Serves 4.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 pound cabbage<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon coarse salt<\/li>\n<li>2 large potatoes<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon butter<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt and pepper<\/li>\n<li>1 pound filet of sole<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon dried leeks<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon dried fennel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Clean cabbage and chop into large pieces. Boil in 2 quarts of water. Add in coarse salt and boil for 7 minutes. Drain.<br \/>\nPeel and cut potatoes into pieces. Boil for 10 minutes. Puree in food processor and place in puree bowl.<br \/>\nMelt butter in a saucepan. Place in cooked cabbage and stir for 3 minutes on low to me\u001fdium heat. Add in mashed potatoes and salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 2 more min\u001futes.<br \/>\nWash fish with fresh water. Cook in a steamer. Place water to boil in the bottom of steamer with dried herbs. Place sole in basket on top, cover, and steam for 10 minutes. Remove from heat.<br \/>\nServe fish on individual plates with potato mixture on side.
