{"id":2155,"date":"2010-08-18T14:44:51","date_gmt":"2010-08-18T21:44:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marialiberati.com\/?p=2155"},"modified":"2010-08-18T14:44:51","modified_gmt":"2010-08-18T21:44:51","slug":"a-midsummer-nights-dream-thyme-and-riso-greco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marialiberati.com\/freshsite\/2010\/08\/18\/a-midsummer-nights-dream-thyme-and-riso-greco\/","title":{"rendered":"A Midsummer Night&#039;s Dream, Thyme and Riso Greco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,<br \/>\nWhere ox-lips and the nodding violet grows;<br \/>\nQuite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,<br \/>\nWith sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.<br \/>\nFrom William Shakespeare\u2019s\u00a0 \u201cA Midsummer\u2019s Night Dream\u201d<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/thyme2.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"thyme 2\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/thyme2_thumb.jpg?resize=244%2C184&#038;ssl=1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thyme 2\" width=\"244\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><br \/>\ncopyright 2010 Maria Liberati\/Art of Living.PrimaMedia,Inc<br \/>\nA trip to the grocery store today brought thoughts of Shakespeare\u2019s Masterpiece of A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream\u2026.in desperation and short on time I went to the closest little neighborhood grocery store for some fresh thyme for today;s lunch of Riso Greco\u2026but was told by the clerk that they only sell dry thyme in \u2018bustine\u2019\u00a0 (packages).<br \/>\n\u201cEspecially\u201d she told me \u201cbecause the best and freshest thyme is found growing abundantly ready for picking if you take a walk to the mountains here..she instructed me to just inhale the air and follow my nose and I will find the freshest thyme growing on the side of the walkway there..it is found on the way to the Santuario (Sanctuary)..<br \/>\nA quick trip to the mountains for a fresh supply gave me enough for the dish..and she was correct..fresher than this thyme one could not find\u2026now I too \u2018know a bank where the wild thyme blows\u2019<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/thyme1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"thyme1\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/thyme1_thumb.jpg?resize=244%2C241&#038;ssl=1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thyme1\" width=\"244\" height=\"241\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>(sorry I don\u2019t have a photo of the dish..it was\u00a0 eaten before we could take one..but it is simply delicious)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Riso Greco<\/strong><br \/>\n1 cup of parboiled rice<br \/>\n1\/2 cup passata di pomodoro (plain tomato sauce)<br \/>\n1\/4 cup chopped onion or shallots<br \/>\n3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil<br \/>\n3 cups vegetable broth<br \/>\n1\/2 cup chopped,pitted black olives<br \/>\nIn saute pan place olive oil and chopped onions or shallots, saute for 30 seconds ,add in tomato sauce, then rice and broth, stir till cooked, approx 14 minutes. Then add in olives, and finely chopped fresh thyme.
