Highly recognizable are the spellbinding tales of campfires, midnight marshmallow roasts, and guising costume festivals\u2026 thus for many, October 31<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">st<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"> marks the modern-day events of the Eve of All Hallows. Originating from Irish immigrants, the traditions spread across Europe to North America in the 19<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"> centur<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calligraph421 BT, cursive;\">y, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">as Halloween\u2019s many rituals are now celebrated throughout world. Respectively, while some religious perspectives ascribe certain disbeliefs, the expansion of commerce chose to capitalize significant revenues based upon candy sales and billion-dollar costume industries. T<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">he evolution of haunting imagery, black cats, witches brew, religious ceremonies, and product commercialization, inevitably, remains<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"> the heart of the equinox. But more than ghost stories and prominent symbols, accounts of this spooktacular event date back as far as the first Pagan rituals, hailing ancient Celtic harvest festivals called, <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Samhain\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif; color: #002bb8;\"><span lang=\"en\">Samhain<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\"> or Celtic New Year. Often paired with the<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"> Day of The Dead and All Saints\u2019 Day, many cultures commemorate (the notional holiday) outside the Americanized standard of door-to-door candy solicitation, by marking November 1<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">st<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"> and 2<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"> as calendar days of remembrance. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">Carnevale<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\"> Di Venezia, a long-established Italian tradition seems to parallel a combination of both Mardi gras and Halloween\u2019s costume masquerading. However, its elaborate artistry, first recorded in 1268, is celebrated 40 days before Easter with restrictions of Lent and a grand festival just before Ash Wednesday. While gala dinners and extravagant costume balls of this winter festival trumpet throughout the various regions of Italy, some reports claim the urbanity of Halloween is literally beginning to mask those of Carnevale. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #002bb8;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">As food plays a significant role in the aspects of any celebration, the <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">annual harvest of apples lend an air of entertainment to the many Halloween-themed activities performed. The friendly competition of apple bobbing or as the Scottish refer to as, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\"><em><strong>dooking<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">,<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\"><em> <\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">remains a pastime favorite. Even holiday \u2018begging\u2019 has transformed throughout history, bringing phrases like \u2018D<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\">o ye want guisers?\u2019 to the simplicity of \u2018Trick or Treat\u2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en\"> So, whether it\u2019s pumpkin risotto to pumpkin carving or candied apples to brimming bags of candy cuisine\u2026 the sheer magic surrounding such mythical traditions can be enjoyed by all ages, young and old. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0.19in; margin-bottom: 0.19in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">Have your own traditional\u00a0Carnevale celebration for Halloween\u00a0with these recipes <\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Frittelle<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1377\" title=\"frittelle\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/frittelle-150x150.jpg?resize=150%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"frittelle\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/marialiberati.com\/freshsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/frittelle.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/marialiberati.com\/freshsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/frittelle.jpg?zoom=2&amp;resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/marialiberati.com\/freshsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/frittelle.jpg?zoom=3&amp;resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Ingredients (for 6 people):<\/em><br \/>\n<em>1 lb flour<\/em><br \/>\n<em>1 cup raisins<\/em><br \/>\n<em>2 tblsps pine nuts<\/em><br \/>\n<em>1 tablespoon sugar<\/em><br \/>\n<em>2 eggs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>1 cup milk<\/em><br \/>\n<em>I\/2 cup grappa<\/em><br \/>\n<em>1 packet brewer\u2019s yeast<\/em><br \/>\n<em>a pinch of salt<\/em><br \/>\n<em>peanut oil to fry<\/em><br \/>\n<em>icing sugar to decorate<\/em><br \/>\nMelt the brewer\u2019s yeast and sugar with a little bit of warm water; then add flour, the eggs, grappa and milk. Don\u2019t forget the pinch of salt. Mix everything and knead it for a while until you see some kind of small \u2018air bubbles\u2019 forming on the surface. Cover then with a napkin and leave it in a warm place to rise. When the dough will have doubled its volume, add the raisins (and pinenuts). Make \u2018balls\u2019 with a teaspoon and let them \u2018slide\u2019 into peanut boiling oil (oil should be deep enough to cover all the small balls; and remember not to put too may of them at a time). When they rise to the surf, turn them over, so that they become brown all over. Dry on kitchen paper, sprinkle with icing sugar and enjoy your <em>fritoe!<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>Crostoli<\/strong><em> (<\/em>is another typical Carnival dessert).<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1376\" title=\"crostoli\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marialiberati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/crostoli-150x133.jpg?resize=150%2C133&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"crostoli\" width=\"150\" height=\"133\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Ingredients (4 people):<\/em><br \/>\n<em>1 cup flour<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00bd cup sugar<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00bc cup butter<\/em><br \/>\n<em>2 eggs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00bd cup grappa<\/em><br \/>\n<em>1 lemon<\/em><br \/>\n<em>icing sugar<\/em><br \/>\n<em>a pinch of salt<\/em><br \/>\n<em>1 tsp pure vanilla<\/em><br \/>\n<em>peanut oil to fry<\/em><br \/>\nMix flour, sugar, vanilla, grated lemon peel and salt on the pastry board. Then make a well and put the eggs, the soft butter cut into small cubes inside the hole. Work it till it is smooth. With the rolling pin roll the dough very thin. Cut rectangles (about 8\u00d712 centimetres) with the pastry cutting wheel and make three cuttings on each of the rectangles. Fry two or three rectangles at a time in abundant boiling peanut oil. Drain, dry on kitchen paper, cover with icing sugar.
