text-align: center\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: center\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\">The Beginning<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\">The word \u201crenaissance\u201d was derived from the Italian phrase la rinascita (meaning rebirth).<span>  <\/span>This term was first seen in Vasari\u2019s The Lives of the Artists (1550-1568).<span>  <\/span>The Renaissance style was recognized in the Italian term meaning in the ancient manner of (the Romans).<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\">Historians generally divide the Renaissance in <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Italy<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> as having three phases:<span>  <\/span>Renaissance (ca. 1400-1500) is also known as the Quattrocento or sometimes Early Renaissance, High Renaissance (ca. 1500-1525), and Mannerism (ca. 1520-1600).<span>  <\/span>Architectural historians, however, equate the awful economic conditions of the late 14<sup>th<\/sup> century as not being able to construct the fine buildings equated to the Renaissance.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\">In the Quattrocento, concepts of architectural order were explored.<span>  <\/span>Rules were written and put into practice.<span>  <\/span>The study of classical antiquity led in particular to the adoption of Classical detail and ornamentation.<span>  <\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\">The idea of space as an element of architecture changed radically.<span>  <\/span>In the Middle Ages, space was organized by an architect\u2019s intuition.<span>  <\/span>Many Medieval buildings reflect this.<span>  <\/span>During the Italian Renaissance, architectural space was determined by proportional logic.<span>  <\/span>Its form and rhythm was subject to geometry.<span>  <\/span>The prime example of this is the Basilica San Lorenzo in <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Florence<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> by Fillipo Brunselleschi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\"><em>Discover another European secret&#8230;..<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Univers\"><o:p> <em>Best Sellling book The Basic Art of  Italian Cooking by Maria Liberati is now available at <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/marialiberati.com\">http:\/\/marialiberati.com<\/a><em> with free shipping and handling and $5 off retail price.
