If you missed it.. today was designated National Coffee Day and in honor of that, here is one of my favorite simple but authentic recipe for a traditional coffee drink from Genoa known as panera.
panera
1/2 cup ground coffee
8 cups cream
1 3/4 cup sugar
Place cream in saucepan, add in ground coffee and stir over low heat until mixture is just about to boil Right before mixture begins to boil, stir in sugar. stir constantly with wooden spoon till sugar is melted. Remove from heat and let cool
When mixture has cooled, filter through cheesecloth a nd place in ice cube trays. When mixture is soft frozen, remove from freezer and blend in food processor. Pour back in ice trays, freeze again. When hard frozen, place in food processor and serve.
